Lucy Jane has the most adorable face, even with 'scalloped ears', apparently shredded by other dogs or her crate. This gorgeous hound has been used for breeding way too many times, and neglected no more! Here's what her foster mom has to say: "She had a hard raised knot under her right eye with a covered, hairless area that looked like an old puncture wound. She smelled like she had an infection. She also looked as though she had just had puppies (and a few litters in the past as well) since her "udders" (as we call them) were dragging the ground. Any nourishment she was getting had to be going straight to the pups as she was in NO condition to be birthing, let alone feeding, a litter of puppies. We also noticed a place on her right side where her ribs jut out at an unnatural angle. The vet thought this was from some sort of trauma. While we can't be sure, her best guess was that someone had kicked her. That actually makes sense because when we let her outside she won't go out the door beside us; we have to walk out first or be far away from the door frame for her to go out comfortably. She is tentative about going out in the grass in our yard. Many times I need to walk out into it first and then call her there. It's like she doesn't know what to think of it. Regardless of her previous treatment, she is a joy to be around. She is always wagging her tail, even when she is unsure of the situation. You can tell she is dying to be loved on but usually only allows you a quick pet before she circles around again only to come right back for another. "
