Very sweet girl who was found as a stray in Collin County. She tested positive for heartworms so will have to go through painful and expensive treatment before she is ready for her furever home. will begin heartworm treatment January 4.

Belle is one of the sweetest Bassets you could possibly come across. She has an intense desire to be touched and loved and will always end up in the center of the action;  she will either end up sitting on your foot, or curl up like a pretzel, close her eyes and sigh happily. If you scratch her head, she will close her eyes, and just sit there, quietly asking you to not stop…. She has this intense, deep gaze, she will stare right into your heart….and make it melt in an instant!

Belle is a definite Basset Hound and she will steal food if she can…. Even when it is placed on top of a table! We have seen her do it! Yet, it is remarkable how gentle she is when receiving treats!  Belle loves her walks, and is a fast walker, with no pulling on the leash, she just trots along.

She gets along great with other dogs and is on the timid side when meeting new friends. She likes children, but is somewhat skiddish around small kids and frieghtens easily, therefore, she would be better suited in a family with children 8 and over.

Belle doesn’t seem to attach to one person in particular, instead, she follows whoever she thinks will give her the most attention. She is definitely not a leader, instead she prefers to follow the other dogs; if they get excited and bark, she will too, if they appear to be quiet and tired, then she is too.  Belle definitely likes company and is not fond of being by herself. She takes comfort in the other dogs and seeks them out. Her sweet and gentle nature, her calmness, would make Belle the perfect therapy dog.  She just doesn’t know a stranger!  She learned the doggie door in no time, and knows exactly what she is supposed to do outside. You can clean her ears, bathe her, take her food away, and she remains calm and sweet the entire time.

Belle is a special girl, and needs that special forever home, who is dedicated to spending time on loving her, and keeping her close. She will return the favor in more ways than one…she will make you smile when you are sad, and she will make you warm when you are cold. We don’t know how she ended up a heartworm positive stray, but what we do know, is that somebody lost a fantastic little dog!
