Peanut was in bad shape when she came to live with her foster family. Her owner had taken her to her vet to put her down because of a severe ear infection that had been going on for over a year. Her ear was so bad that she had a open, infected wound below her ear. Peanut did not bark or eat snacks. We are guessing that it hurt her ear due to the sound of her own barking or the crunch of a snack. She would tilt her head toward her wound to protect her ear from people.   Once with her foster family, the first step was to try to get the infection under control and to have her gain some of her lost weight back. After the first week, her surgeon was pleased that she had gained weight, so Peanut had surgery the second week to have her ear canal removed.

Months later, Peanut is a different dog. While she is deaf in one ear, she now loves to bark and eat snacks. She also has some bad, endearing habits that have emerged. She can't hold her licker and will give you quite the bath - so much so that you start giggling in trying to get her to stop. She likes to crawl up your body for attention or will jump up. Fortunately, she is only about 40 lbs, so she does not knock you over.  She is quite the cuddler and is so very sweet. She loves to play and has lots of energy.  She will follow you every where in the house. Peanut expresses her pleasure with happy groans when you pet her.  She does not leave you wondering that she adores you.
