Update from Louie's Foster Mom - Louie is very energetic. He is an active hound and may get into trouble if left alone. He is improving on his crate training. Still have to coax him in with a treat but he does well after he is in. He still whines a few minutes then goes to sleep. He will pick things off a low lying table. He does chew on toys every once in a while but not a lot. I think he would be good with a small dog not a big one. He is very much a lap dog. He's hard to move and when he wants a spot he goes for it. He sleeps good in a doggy bed but if he is in the bedroom not a crate at night he is going to jump in the bed. He doesn't sleep good at night if not crated. He loves outdoors and needs a fence. He uses the doggy door whenever he wants to go out. He will whine and bark if he needs to go out and can't get to doggy door. He is a little bit of a counter surfer but not to extreme. If something he wants is close to the edge he can get it though. He doesn't attack cats but may bark at them so probably best not to have one. He likes walks but he will pull on the leash a bit. He's a pretty typical basset hound and just needs a little supervision. Needs to be an only dog.
